My Hundred Islands Adventure – Day 1

Day 1 is almost over. No Swimming for us today. The kids were sad but we cheered them up by telling them we will be riding a boat tomorrow to go check the Islands and they can swim as long as they want.

The trip was long for a lot of reasons. This was not a normal vacation trip that I was used to. For this trip , I was with friends who are “riders” …they belong to a group called BXR (Bulacan Extreme  Riders) who travel places in their motorbikes. I don’t have a motorcycle and I don’t even know how to ride one so I drove my car and brought along Mikayla and my friends wife and kids.

We chose to travel via NLeX-SCTEX exiting HLuisita, The BXR group took a different route since they are not allowed to travel via nLEX and SCtEx. I don’t really have problems with directions since I have WAZE on my IPhone. With WAZE I never get lost :). Although WAZE suggested TRPLEX I didn’t take that route because we have to meet the BXR Group at Hacienda  LUISITA before going to Pangasinan. I hoped to have taken WAZE’s suggestion, we could have arrived earlier bu it’s not option since we are traveling with our rider friends.

It took us 5 hours to travel to Alaminos that includes the waiting time… And when we got there we have to meet the person who would show us where we would stay for the day.

We traveled atleast another 20 minutes or less to BOLO beach where we were supposed to stay just to learn that the accommodation mmmmwas not what we expected. We tried looking for other resorts in the area but they are all fully booked.

It was already noon and we still don’t have a place to stay . The kids are getting hungry so we decided to go back to town and eat first. The kids wanted to have lunch at Jollibee so jollibee it is….

Fortunately, after having lunch we were able to talk to Kuya Ronnie and he directed us to where we can find transient houses. We were able to find one at 5500, initially it was 6800 but we were able to persuade ms Marisa of Marissa transient house for a discount. If you think that’s too much, well it was ok considering we were 23 in total including the 3 kids.  The house was comfortable and we were able to sleep and rest well before the morning for our island trip.

Because we cannot go to the islands anymore due to the lateness of our arrival we just decided to spend the day checking out the area. We strolled along the wharf … There are a lot of hotels and transient houses in the area. There are also a lot of souvenir vendors and food around the area. I didn’t buy any souvenirs since based from my experience my family doesn’t appreciate it anyway. We did however tried some of the street food like barbeque, orange egg, fish balls, squid balls , Buko, gulaman, pineapple juice just to name a few.

I enjoyed their barbeque longanisa a lot and had a taste of their fresh Buko still in its shell.

The night was young and my friends drank and ate their hearts out. I wanted to join them but it’s already mikayla’s bedtime and as a loving  mom, I had to tuck Mikayla to bed. Hopefully I’ll still be able to catch up with them once she fell asleep….

That’s it for the first part of my Hundred Islands Adventure.. The part 2 will cover and talk about our trip to the islands and the trip back home

Love thoughts 001

My thoughts using Pic Collage #piccollage

There are times when you need to be sure what you are getting into. In a relationship for example, I think it’s not enough anymore to get into a relationship just because you love the person and the person “says” he loves you. You have to make sure that the level of love you feel for each other is mutual. You have to really make sure that he needs you in his life as much as you need him. One thing a man or a woman can do is to show everyone how much they feel about the person they love. I know people say that what other people thinks doesn’t matter but that is not really the point. You going out of your comfort zone and showing how much you care and love a person irregardless if there are people witnessing it or not.

For me , if a person is vocal about how they feel about me and not at all holding back in showing it to me and to people around me is an indication how much that person wants me and added to that how proud he is to have me as his special someone.

A sad reality….

There are a lot of companies that are not supportive of work at home moms like me….

We do what we do because we choose to stay at home and care for our family first hand and still be able to work for our living…

Why can’t you create policies that benefits not just several types of employees but one that can accommodate everyone…

Oh well….

You have Medicard, Why Worry?

“Medicard, the Healthcard that Cares”

Have you ever been in a situation when you or your loved ones get sick and hospitalized then when the time you are well to go home , suddenly you felt defeated and more sick when you  see the hospital bill?
Most of us Filipinos had experience it one way or another. It is not a good experience and something you wish will never happen to you or to anyone you knew.
Having a Health Card is the best way to go for us and this is why Medicard is the most dependable and highly recommended Healthcard here in the Philippines.
It is better to be prepared than be sorry is a quote that best applies on emergency situations. In terms of our health I guess the right quote will be “It is better to be prepared having Medicard than be sorry”
MediCard is a Health Maintenance Organization that provides a comprehensive health care program for its members which includes emergency care, hospital confinement, preventive health care, dental care and out-patient consultation services.
There are a lot of Health Cards and some of you might ask, why should we choose Medicard?
There are a lot of reasons why we should choose Medicard over the others. With Medicard you are assured that only the best people is taking care of you. It is the only Healthcard founded and run by Doctors. Who knows exactly what we need but the doctors themselves, right? Also Medicard is one of the pioneers in the HMO industry and as they turn 28 this year, their campaign in creating awareness about Medicard to the Filipino people is appropriate in these times. Filipinos need to know what will make their lives worry free and knowing what Medicard can do for them will help them achieve that.
It is also great to know that when you are with Medicard, you will have access to more than 40,000 accredited doctors, specialists and dentists in almost 1,000 accredited hospitals and clinics nationwide
Here are some things that you also want to know about Medicard:
o It is the first HMO awarded with ISO certification in the Asia Pacific Region.
o It offers a comprehensive healthcare coverage to its members from hospitalization, outpatient, preventive, emergency, member’s financial assistance and dental services.

IMG_4324The Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) is ushering a new vision of an Intellectual Property-conscious Philippines in a demystified, development-oriented, and democratized Intellectual Property (IP) system by 2020. Aside from the registration of IP assets, the Office seeks to develop the three facets of the IP system: economic, technological, and socio-cultural to encourage innovation, and respect for IP.

Participating local bloggers were welcomed by IPOPHL Officer-in-Charge Atty. Allan Gepty and were given an overview of the office and basic orientation on patents, trademarks, and copyright. The said lectures were conducted by Mr. Leo Losantas, Engr. The First Bloggers’ Conference on IP was organized by IPOPHL to reach out to netizens. IPOPHL hopes to collaborate with the bloggers in increasing IP awareness of the general public.

I was one of the lucky ones to get invited and the information I got was overwhelming in the best way possible. Admittedly, there is still so much to learn, the time was just not enough. I am looking forward to learn more about IP and how it can improve our way of lives here in the Philippines. I am also 100% in support of IPO PHL in their campaign to reach out to every Filipinos and educate them about what they are all about and how canwe benefit from IP.

The goal of IPO PHL is Intellectual Property Rights Awareness. They aim to empower the PUBLIC on IP Awareness. They are geared towards educating and enlightening the Filipinos about what is IP is all about and how it can improve us and our way of living.

Here are sneak peaks of what was discussed during the conference:

1. PATENTS – is an exclusive right granted by the state through the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to a patent owner for a product, process, or an improvement of a product or process for a specified period.

TERM OF PATENT : 20 Years from the filing date of Application.

2. TRADEMARK – Any visible sign that distinguishes the products or services ( service mark) of an enterprise which includes the container of the products or packaging. It may consists of words, names and first names, signatures, letters, numbers, acronyms, combination of letters, numbers, signs, logos, slogans, designs, figures, pictographs, labels and three dimensional trademarks (shape of product, packaging  color or combination of colors).

3. COPYRIGHT – Is a branch of Intellectual Property which pertains  to the rihts given to creators or authors for their literary and artistic works. The domain of works includes writings, music, fine art (photography, paintings or sculptures) and technology based works (computer software programs, websites, and electronic databases). It protects the expression of thoughts or ideas not the thoughts and ideas themselves.

Like what I said, there is so much to learn and I am going to cover them one by one on my future posts… If you want to learn more about Intellectual Property, stay tune and I will try my best to impart to you what I have learned myself from the experts.
